It's been a while since my last blog and for that I can only apologise!
Today sees the launch of a photo competition that although is open to all Brighton residents and beyond, has been heavily pitched at the students here at the University of Brighton.
For a few months now I have been working with a new company called Caydoo, who have set up to bring people together in the name of sustainability. The website is all about networking people with their local surroundings and local events as to what's happening in terms of sustainability across where they live. This therefor includes mapping software to show you just what's going on around you and how close so many things are!
The main thing we have been working on is how best to introduce the company to students and how it can be reinforced that the messages behind sustainability are important and real. From this, the idea of Brighton's A Picture of Sustainability came about and is launched today!!!
This is a photo competition that is designed to get people to think about sustainability and what is means to them and then find a picture that represents this. The photos then need to be uploaded onto the Caydoo website. The photos will be judged in 2 ways, firstly the public will get to select it's winner as the photo most voted by people on the website. There will also be a formal group judging the entrants to decide the overall winner.
The top photos will also be displayed in a gallery event at the American Express Community Stadium, and be at the centre point for a whole days worth of activities including school lessons on sustainability working in conjunction with another of the schemes partners Albion in the Community.
The prizes for this competition are amazing including:
£500 vouchers for Clock Tower Cameras
A years membership and £150 driving credit from zip car
Tickets to see Brighton and Hove Albion Play
And of course all of this comes as Brighton has seen a real joy from the world of photography in the last few days as this video, made up of more that 45000 photos has made a storm on Facebook and other media.

So why not get your camera out and see if you can capture sustainability in just one pic!
