Just to remind you that Sports Awards Tickets are on sale now at all Sport Brighton receptions. As this is a formal sit down dinner we must confirm final numbers in advance of the evening. As a result the last date for ticket sales is Sunday 6th May. That is only a week to get your tickets! Remember we are only open at Eastbourne and Falmer at weekends until 5pm so don’t leave it until the last minute! No sales after the deadline will be possible.
This year’s Sports Awards will take place on Saturday 12th May at the Winter Garden in Eastbourne. Tickets are £32 and includes a three course meal, travel for Brighton students, awards, wine for toasts and the official after awards party at Atlantis. Last year was a great event with over 250 students enjoying the evening.
Guest Speaker:
Hot off the press we can announce that Olympic Gold medallist Jason Gardener MBE is this year’s guest speaker and will be helping to present the awards. Jason will no doubt provide an inspirational and interesting insight in what it is like to be World, Olympic, European and Commonwealth Champion!
Won something this year?
If you have won any trophies or competitions this year and you would like to be presented with these at the dinner then please email me details of what you won and we can see if it is something we can incorporate in the ceremony. We are unable to present awards that are internal to the University.
Film or Photos from this year required from ALL Sports Federation Clubs:
If you have any links to videos or photos from your clubs activities this year then please email these to me by the 4th May to be added to the Sports Federation Review of the Year. It would be great to get something from every single club at the university. Email me links or drop off cds to any Sport Brighton reception.

Brighton University - E.ON want to hear your views on the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm proposed of the Sussex coast!
Rampion consultation event: main reception lobby, Cockroft, 11-4pm, next Thursday (April 26th)
E.ON has developed initial proposals for an offshore wind farm located
around 13km from the Sussex coast at its nearest point. The Rampion Offshore Wind Farm could accommodate an installed capacity of up to 700 megawatts, which we estimate could generate enough electricity for the domestic needs of the equivalent of around 450,000 homes each year. That’s more than two thirds of the homes in the whole of Sussex, including the city of Brighton and Hove.
Before they submit a consent application, currently expected to be in the
second half of 2012, E.ON are holding a 12-week community consultation period from Monday 13 February 2012 until Sunday 6 May 2012.
Come and find out more about E.ON's proposed Rampion Offshore Wind Farm at the main reception lobby of Cockroft from 11-4pm on Thursday 26th April 2012. Whether you're dropping by for a chat with one of the team or simply passing through, don't forget to get your hands on a consultation questionnaire so your views are officially recorded. Refreshments will also be provided.
